Christmas Tree Farm Review

Carol Holben Christmas Tree Farm

Carol Holben Christmas Tree Farm: We made a first time visit to a little known tree farm located between Weimar and Eden Valley. Here's our top-7 reasons why the Carol Holben Christmas Tree Farm on Ruf Road is our new favorite Christmas tree farm:

  1. It's not crowded. In fact, we were the only people there. It was also quiet, but not too quiet.
  2. There were none of those cute signs, or marked trails, or price tags that clutter so many 'modern' tree farms.
  3. There was a good selection of Douglas firs. If you like Doug firs but hate every other kind of tree, this is the place for you.Carol Holben Christmas Tree Farm
  4. There was also a good selection of rusting Volkswagen Beetles scattered about the farm. They appeared to have dropped out of the sky in about 1966! Rusty VW Bugs create a more authentic experience than plywood candy canes no matter what the season.
  5. The price is $6 per foot no matter how tall the tree.
  6. Because the owners choose not to mow the native grasses, every tree is taller than it looks!
  7. Their brochure contains useful safety tips, such as: "Watch out for loose rocks, holes, tree stumps, PVC pipe, slippery pine needles, and grass."

The 8.5-foot tree we "harvested" looks, smells, and feels wonderfully arboreous. We will recommend the Carol Holben Christmas Tree Farm to all our adventurous Doug fir-loving friends.
