The Curious Cloven Ponderosa Pine Trees of Meadow Vista

At least 99.99% of all pinus ponderosa grow vertical from base to top, with all branches connected perpendicular to a single straight trunk.

Volley Road in Meadow Vista is home to at least a dozen rare Ponderosa pines that fork and then sometimes split again.

Adding enigma to mystery, the road itself actually forks around two of the bisected pines.

Preliminary field tests have found no evidence that these are "robo-treenennas".
