Gas prices are low enough that we can finally afford to drive to the gas station to take pictures of low gas prices. Gas prices are tanking at $1.78 per gallon, down about two dollars in the last 76 days. For reasons unknown, Apple-gas is historically 2 or 3 dimes cheaper than Mellow-vista gas (see below).

June 24, 2008 - Smokey-high Price Peak

As the smoke from summer forest fires peaked, so did local gas prices! When the smoke finally cleared, gas spiked at $4.84 per gallon in Applegate, California.

May 4, 2007 Petrol Price Point

These pictures taken on May 4, 2007, prove that Polygon gas prices have risen more than $1.00 per gallon since the November 2006 elections:

As gas prices are setting new records the week of May 18, 2007, a local newspaper reports: "There's nothing we can do".

November 10, 2006 Petrol Price Point

We photographically documented the "bottoming-out" of gas prices in Applegate and Meadow Vista three days after the polls closed on this election/gas price cycle.

Prior to Election Day, we had watched the price per gallon plummet by almost $1.00 since the last time we recorded the gas prices in September 2005 and July 2006. Then, on November 11, 2006 we observed a 10 cent per gallon increase!

The difference between the price of gas in Applegate and Meadow Vista is almost always 10 to 20 cents per gallon. The distance from Applegate to Meadow Vista is almost always 2.5 miles. Now, you do the math.
